Grant Guidelines

Consistent with the Wes Welker Foundation's mission to influence at-risk youth, by encouraging their full potential through athletics and positive role models

  • Located within the Oklahoma City limits or within the geographic area of the Oklahoma City Public School District
  • Grantee must be an educational institution or an organization that is tax exempt under Section 501 (c)(3) of the tax code
  • Must serve High School age youth and/or younger
  • Completed grant applications must have 2 signatures, on behalf of the applicant, one of which must be an administrator

Items generally considered by the Foundation, in evaluating requests:

  • Free and reduced lunch percentage
  • Number of youth impacted
  • Dollars per youth impacted
  • Sustainability (multi-year/used by more than one student)
  • History with the Foundation, i.e. past grants
  • Other sources of funding, including MAPS, Alumni groups, district funds, other grants from organizations and/or foundations
  • Community Service involvement

Items generally not funded:

  • Fees
  • Appliances
  • Camp Registration Costs
  • Items that will only be used one year/season
  • Playground equipment
  • Meals
  • Lockers

The Foundation may revoke a grant approval, prior to funding, due to a material change in circumstances from the information provided in the Grant Application.
